Who are your art teachers?

Miss Katie Flowers and Miss Claire Kirk

Who is Miss Flowers ?

My name is Katie Flowers and I have the very good fortune to work as one of the two art teachers here at HKIS Lower Primary. It’s my 13th year, and I consider myself lucky to be able to work with these abundantly creative young children and the wonderful Mrs Claire Kirk.
I have been in Hong Kong a very long time, 26 years - I didn’t ever intend to stay that long, but lots of lovely things and great opportunities have come my way here. I actually grew up in England. I am a practising artist and create Mandalas, Handmade Books and Botanical Illustrations.
I live on a small island with no cars called Lamma very close to the sea, so I come to work on a boat. My son Christie is studying Biology at Reading University in the UK.  My partner Eric was born and brought up in Hong Kong, he is an Executive Life Coach, photographer and poet.

Who is Mrs Kirk ?

Hello, my name is Claire Kirk and together with the lovely Katie Flowers we are the art teachers who get to devise wild, wonderful and creative art projects for the Lower Primary cherubs. I’m very pleased to be entering my 12th year as an Art teacher at HKIS. We have a great art room with scrumptious materials and students who are full of creative energy and wonder.  I am so lucky to have a wonderful teaching partner to work with. All these ingredients make for rather a magical experience in the LP art room.

I love living in Hong Kong, I have lived here for 27 years. I am married to Ezra Kirk, we have three little boys George, Harry and Louis. My hobby is to create and make outlandish headresses and costumes.
